Upgrading Old Accounts

As noted in a previous post, we are adding several security enhancements to our online service. Existing users need to upgrade their accounts. This post provides step-by-step instructions on the procedure.

  1. Make sure your browser has Java enabled and it is working properly. You can visit this link:http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre&try=1 in order to determine your Java status. Java is required to migrate data between accounts, but it is not needed for regular data access.
  2. Create a new account (“sign up”). You can re-use your old username, if it is still available.
  3. Sign into your old account by following this link:http://30.latest.threetags.appspot.com/. Once you are there, click “Tools/Export (Backup)” menu in the top right corner, and follow the instructions. Save the backup file on your local hard drive.
  4. Sign into your new account via ThreeTags main page.
  5. Click “Tools/Import (Restore)” menu in the top right corner, and follow the instructions.

  • Please note that the process will not work on most Apple systems, as our import/export implementation is currently incompatible with Apple’s Java runtime. You will need to get hold of a Windows or Linux PC with the latest Sun Java installed.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are looking into the issue.

I don’t recall when I started with ThreeTags. How do you know if you need to upgrade your account or not?

  • Hi Michael,

I don’t recall when I started with ThreeTags. How do you know if you need to upgrade your account or not?

If you can sign into ThreeTags on the main page (http://threetags.com), you don’t need to upgrade.

If you cannot do that, but can sign in using the “old accounts back-door” (http://30.latest.threetags.appspot.com/), you should upgrade.

If you cannot sign in using either of the links, you probably forgot your password, in which case there’s nothing we can do to help.

    Best regards,
    ThreeTags Inc. support
