Hi Alexi,

Yes, your use case is not covered currently - thank you for the valuable feedback! We will definitely look into how/when to support it.

When I try to remove "People: friend" tag from note that has "People: friend: Toronto" tag, it does not remove anything. It removes only exact match.
When I try to add "People: buddy" tag to several notes, it will not add "People: buddy: Toronto" and "People: buddy: Vancouver" like I need it to. I agree that I can add "People: buddy" and then edit each node to add leaves Toronto and Vancouver, but it can't be called easy way to manage for lists with 20 items or more.

In addition to that, there is another operation that is essential for tree refactoring - ability to relocate subtrees from one place to another. Your system does not support that too. In order to achieve it your system could allow to replace subpath of selected set of notes with specified path.

Hi Alexi,

you can add/remove complex tags. So you can select several notes, add "People: buddy", and then remove "People: friend".

Your method allows to add new simple tag or remove simple tag, but it does not allow to add or remove hierarchical tags.

If we take your example of Contacts list, how can I rename People to World with your method ? Also how can I rename People:friend to People:buddy ?

Hi Alexi,

You can select several notes, add new tags to all of them by clicking "add tags" toolbar button, and then remove old tags from all of them by clicking "remove tags".

I gave it a try and it replaces one problem (of having to make a choice when placing element into a tree) with another - inability to rename tag for a set of nodes tagged with that tag.
Almost every tree management system, allows to rename any node of that tree without going through every leaf, but ThreeTags does not (I have to go to every leaf and edit tags in order to move it to new location). I have a tree of hundreds of leaves and I want to be able to refactor this tree without going into every leaf.
I am not going to use ThreeTags at this point at least because of this issue.

Hi Hondris,

It is not clear how to implement the feature you are looking for in an easy-to-use intuitive way. Please let us know if you have an example of a workable design (that we can legally use, royalty-free).

Thanks,

I find the Hierarchical Tagging system an extremly efficient way to organize knowledge. However something very important IMHO is missing: the ability to use Boolean operators (AND , OR , NOT) in filtering. For example i would like to be able to search for Toronto OR Vancouver friends or for all friends but NOT from Vancouver.
Are you planning on adding such a feature?
Thanks

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your comments and questions. Our answers below.

1. There are many note-taking apps/services that do not use encryption and thus provide search and other features. We just don't have enough funding to compete with the likes of Evernote and Zoho.

2. We are aware that the editor we use (TinyMCE) is not without issues. We will definitely switch to a "more robust rich-text editor" once we find one. :)

3 and 4. These are very interesting ideas. We considered expanding into this more advanced "information organization" space, but it seems there are little commercial opportunities there for us.

Best regards,
ThreeTags
